As shown in the image above, a push camera consists of three main components: the camera head, the reel with the coaxial fiberglass cable, and the control unit. Of course, there are many styles and designs available; some are more portable, some are battery-powered, and some are larger and suitable for more in-depth inspections. However, ultimately, three key components distinguish a push camera from other inspection cameras: the camera itself, the coaxial fiberglass cable on the reel, and the control unit.

 

The main purpose of a push rod inspection camera is to perform a visual inspection of a pipe or sewer to understand what is inside the pipe. It is widely used for visual inspections of pipes, sewers, ventilation systems, building inspections, and other confined spaces.

As mentioned earlier, push rod inspection cameras come in a variety of models, each with its own disadvantages and advantages.

  1. * Camera head: It can be either a straight view, dual-view or a pan and tilt camera head. The straight view give a rather a small view of the pipe and are better for smaller pipe diameters. The dual-view gives much bigger view of whats happening in the pipes. The straight-view camera of the dual-view gives a downward picture, while the side view gives a picture of the sidewall of the pipe or sewer. The pan and tilt allow you to look around in the pipe both sideways and straight, and the control box controls it.

Keep in mind that the longer the cable, the heavier the unit, and longer units require a mechanical reel, which adds more weight.

  2. * Portability: This is directly related to the length of the probe and the structure of the camera. In some cases, if you need a longer cable, you will need to sacrifice portability. However, the more portable the camera unit, the better. The 50mm push rod inspection camera system comes with two types of cable stands: a small and lightweight cable stand for cable lengths up to 60 meters, and a large cable stand with two wheels for easier portability and use by pipeline workers when the cable is longer than 60 meters.
