As a plumber for many years, I know that technological advances in the field of pipe maintenance and inspection have revolutionised our work. Pipe Inspection Camera is undoubtedly one of the most critical tools, it is like our 'eyes' deep inside the pipe, so that those hidden in the dark, narrow pipe cavity of the problem nowhere to hide.
*First, the basic composition of the pipeline inspection camera:
A typical pipeline inspection camera system is by no means a simple camera. The core component is naturally a high-resolution camera, usually with waterproof, corrosion-resistant features, which can adapt to the pipeline inside the wet, full of all kinds of chemicals in the harsh environment. These cameras range from hundreds of thousands to millions of pixels, and the high-resolution versions are able to capture the tiniest cracks and corrosion spots, providing the basis for accurate diagnosis.
Connected to it is a tough and slim transmission cable, which must ensure the stable transmission of video signals, but also flexible enough to travel smoothly through the winding pipelines. The operator can adjust the brightness and contrast of the camera through the terminal, control its rotation and zoom, and accurately focus on the suspected problem areas. Some high-end terminals are also equipped with image enhancement algorithms to optimize the quality of the image in poorly lit pipe sections, highlighting potential fault characteristics.

When we receive a pipeline inspection task and arrive at the site with a pipeline inspection camera, the first thing to do is to select the appropriate camera accessories according to the pipeline caliber, material, and other factors, such as different sizes of the lens protector, guide wheels and so on.
The camera is carefully fed into the pipe entrance, and as it goes deeper, the camera's built-in lighting system is switched on synchronously, usually using high-brightness LED lights to evenly illuminate the front view. The light reflects off the pipe wall, and the camera captures the image formed by these light reflections, converts it into an electrical signal, and sends it to the handheld terminal via a transmission cable at high speed. Based on the real-time feedback, the operator can determine whether there is any blockage inside the pipe, such as dirt build-up, dislodged pipe lining debris, or structural damage, including cracks, deformation, loose joints, etc. If an abnormality is found, the terminal's marking function can also be used to record the location of the problem accurately, making it easier for subsequent repairs to locate the problem precisely.

In the intricate construction of water supply and drainage pipelines, municipal sewage networks, and even industrial pipeline systems, the role of pipeline inspection cameras is becoming more and more prominent.
The transformation of old districts, for example, the underground pipe network is in disrepair, and the drawings are often incomplete. At this time, with the help of pipeline inspection cameras, we can check the condition of the pipeline section by section, clear which pipe sections need to be replaced, and which only need local repair, to avoid large-scale blind excavation, great cost savings, and reduce the interference of the residents' lives.
In the industrial field, the chemical enterprise pipeline conveys high-risk, corrosive media, a slight leakage consequences are unimaginable. Regular use of pipeline inspection camera patrol can be found in advance of the pipe wall thinning, weld deterioration, and other potential safety hazards, and timely arrangements for shutdown maintenance, to protect production continuity and personnel safety.

With technological advances, pipeline inspection cameras are making strides in the direction of intelligence. In the future, it is expected to integrate artificial intelligence algorithms to automatically identify pipeline defects, predict the risk of failure, and even generate maintenance program recommendations based on inspection results.
However, there are still some challenges. On the one hand, the high cost of high-precision equipment, limiting the equipment of some small maintenance enterprises; on the other hand, in some of the very small diameter, full of strong electromagnetic interference in special pipeline environments, the stability of signal transmission and flexibility of equipment handling still needs to be improved.
